Ulysses, Beyond the Gods
After ten years of wandering, Ulysses longs for only one thing… to party in Ithaca!
On Mount Olympus, the gods are at war with one another. To put an end to their quarrels, Zeus bans all forms of celebration. Guided by a mysterious SMS — a “Siren’s Whispered Message” — Ulysses receives instructions to defy the ban.
He takes his companions on an epic and wildly unconventional odyssey. From island to island, they face countless obstacles until they finally reach the first free celebration in history. At last, they are free from the gods.
Artistic Intentà
In this new odyssey of Ulysses, Compagnie CPPP revisits this timeless myth and brings it to life on the scale of an entire city. The streets become the sea, while the squares are transformed into islands of the Mediterranean, a land of legends where heroes encounter gods.
In our story, Ulysses is invited to Ithaca to celebrate victory and the return of his people. But Zeus is enraged. The gods of Olympus have taken sides in the wars of men. Furious, the guardian of divine order decides to ban all celebrations.
Refusing to submit, Ulysses chooses to defy the ban. He sets out on an extraordinary journey through a world where the gods, as figures of authority, seek to stand in his way. From island to island, from trial to trial, he pursues a single goal: to reach Ithaca.
And so the first free celebration in history is born: a founding act in which, for the first time, a man declares that his destiny no longer belongs to the gods, but to his own freedom.
